Episode 227 From 5/26/2015 – being featured this week is one of the pitmasters of The Pork Brothers Competition Team – Mike Fritz! He and his 2 other team members were running the rib burner circuit back then…the rib circuit is much different than a KCBS, FBA, SLBBQ, the Texas sanctioning bodies or most any competition BBQ sanctioning body really…if you ever have the “rib burn-off” events in your hometown…there were MANY back in the day here in Cleveland and there are still a few big ones each summer…THAT is the rib circuit. They go from festival to festival, pay pretty large entry fees…and then VEND…at the end of the weekend, there is usually a people’s choice winner and sometimes there is a “local celebrity” judge panel judging to proclaim a winner of the weekend as well…really, when you strip it back, while I am sure everyone wants to win the weekend…they all just really want to make as much money as they can vending their ribs. I remember a guy by the name of Billy Bones…he was BIG on the rib burner circuit back in the early 2000’s…he told me one time that it was hard to even get in the circuit…spots were willed down to family members…kind of like HLSR spots…So, you’ll get a background on Mike Fritz (a private jet pilot) and he talks about a few recent events…pretty interesting stuff! Episode 226 From 5/3/2011 – This week we feature Chris Hart from the I-que BBQ team…We work through a bit of technical issues right up front, which you will hear…but the big topic of the segment was Chris being a part of a TV show called “Best In Smoke” that was on The Food Network. Chris explained how the show was going to happen and it was taking place over a 4 episode run…back in 2011 BBQ and TV was still a thing. In fact, there were a number of cable networks that were trying their hand at it. Food Network, The Cooking Channel and Destination America were the 3 biggest…Destination America would probably be considered to be the network that was king of BBQ TV at that point. A Visit From 3 Years Hollow Lead Singer Jose Urquiza and Bobbi Rempe Breaks Her Hip…On Purpose!

As I mentioned last Tuesday, Bobbi is going in for another big hip surgery today (which is why the show is pre-recorded…BUT NEW) and we sat down over the weekend and talked about the 2021 volleyball season at Seton Hill and then we talked about what she expects from this surgery and her associated recovery.
