E90 BH Alabama Auburn Iron Bowl Instant Reaction as Bama wins 27-20 in a nail-biter Alabama scored late in the 4th quarter on 4 & 2 to take the lead 27-20 and then held on with their bend, but don’t break defense to stop Auburn’s last two drives and win a tough game. Celebration. Bama clinched their spot in the CFP! I think barring something really wild and bad happening! Bama qualifies for SEC championship to play GA again! And now playing for seeding in the CFP! Kalen DeBoer goes 4-0 on the road in the SEC, goes 7-1 in the SEC to qualify for the SEC championship, and goes 10-2 on the season as they likely qualify for the CFP. Ugly win! Struggle Win, but a win nevertheless! Ty is clutch on 4 & 2 to score as he hits Zay Horton for the winning TD! And then Bama’s bend but don’t break defense turns Auburn over to stop Auburn’s late drive as Auburn drove the field trying to tie the game. On Auburn 2nd to last drive after Bama scored to go ahead 27-20, Auburn drove 58 yds on 12 plays to the Bama 40 yd line and then Daniels hit Cam Coleman on a pass as Justin Jefferson punched out the ball and Deonte Lawson recovered the fumble. That turnover effectively won the game for Bama. Auburn got the ball back one more time with 12 seconds left, but didn’t threaten to score. Then Ty led Bama down the field in a long, weird drive to score the game-winning TD! This winning drive was 75 yds in 15 plays taking 7:53 as Bama scored on 4th and 2 in the redzone from the Auburn 6 yd line. Ty threaded the needle over the middle between two defenders to hit Zay Horton on the winning score. And then held off Auburn on their last two drives to win the game. I think Bama is in, but not guaranteed until the formal selection happens after the championship games are played next weekend on Sunday, Dec 7that at 12 noon ET! Ty was not great, but was great when he needed to be. 19/35 for 122 yd and 3 TD passes. He also ran for 31 yds on 10 carries as he made big plays with his legs at crucial times. Zay Horton caught 5 passes for 35 yds and 3 TD’s. Ty to Zay connection was responsible for all three Bama TD’s. And Connor Talty did his part to secure the win as he hit 2 FG’s. A good redemption story as Bama needed both of these FG’s Jam Miller had 83 yds on 15 carries as Bama rushed for over 150 yds in the game. Bama won turnovers 2 to 0 as Bama had one interception and one fumble recovery to stop the last major Auburn drive. The bend by don’t break Bama defense got gashed on two explosive plays by Malcolm Simmons as he had 143 receiving yards and scored 1 TD and had a 66 yd catch and run to set up Auburn’s last TD. Bama got ahead 17-0 in the 2nd quarter and then Auburn came roaring back to tie the game at 20-20 in the 4th quarter as Bama gave up an explosive play on short pass to Malcolm Simmons who went 66 yds on the play from the Auburn 30 to Alabama 4 yd line and Auburn scored two plays later to tie the game at 20-20. Bama jumped on Auburn 17-0 with 5 mins left in 2 quarter. Then Auburn outscored Bama 20-3 to tie the score at 20-20. Then Bama scored a TD with 3.50 left in the game to go up 27-20 and held on for the win! This win caps a great regular season! And now on to the SEC championship game and the playoffs! Bama won turnovers 2 to 0 as Bama had one interception and one fumble recovery to stop the last major Auburn drive. On Auburn 2nd to last drive, Auburn drove 58 yds on 12 plays to the Bama 40 yd line and then Daniels hit Cam Coleman on a pass as Justin Jefferson punched out the ball and Deonte Lawson recovered the fumble. That turnover effectively won game for Bama. Auburn got ball back one more time with 12 seconds left, but didn’t threaten to score.. Next up is the SEC championship game on Saturday, Dec 7 as Bama plays Georgia. And then the playoffs after that.
