40. The Makings of a Revolutionary with Samone Anderson

Unstoppable! This word certainly describes this week’s changemaker and UCLA Bruin, Ms. Samone Anderson. In this episode, this young revolutionary shares how the upbringing she received from her grandmother propelled her into a life of community service. In this last year of quarantine, she and her friends from Richmond, CA decided to start the nonprofit, Richmond Revolution to empower residents of their hometown. Through organized protests in front of Richmond City Hall and leadership roles in student organizations, such as UCLA’s Afrikan Student Union (ASU) and the African Education Project (AEP), Samone is a force to be reckoned with. Ms. Anderson is currently in pursuit of her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and African American Studies at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In addition to being the co-founder of The Richmond Revolution, she is also the Community Service Coordinator for ASU and the Project Director for AEP. Recently, her nonprofit was granted $15,000 to offer internship training to high school students interested in grassroots leadership.
