Market Zero
EJoining me in the studio today are the heart and soul of Market Zero, the riff-slinging machine himself, Joey Owens, and the powerhouse, Justin Casey. Now, you fans know these guys weren't always rocking the Market Zero sound. We'll be throwing it back to their old stomping grounds with Uneasy Pilgrim and The Delzells – and let me tell you, that's some serious garage rock punk gold you won't wanna miss. But hey, it ain't all sunshine and power chords. We'll be getting the real deal on Joey's epic motorcycle mishap (don't worry, he's alright, folks) and how it impacted the band. Plus, Justin's got a brand spankin' new merch venture we gotta chat about. And of course, you know The Austin Young Show spills the tea! We're gonna peel back the layers on what really happened with Uneasy Pilgrim and The Delzells. Did egos clash? Were there creative differences? We're getting to the bottom of it all.But most importantly, I'll be looking to the future. Where's Market Zero headed? New album? Live shows (Finally)? We're gonna squeeze every juicy detail outta these guys. So, crank up the volume, and get ready for a wild ride with Market Zero! This episode's gonna be a scorcher!Follow Market Zero: https://market-zero.com/homeFollow The Austin Young Show:www.austinyoungshow.comMusic By:Market Zero - Insufferable, Sundown Motel and Mama TriedUneasy Pilgram - Thinking Of YouThe Delzells - Heavy Drapes Mean Motor Scooter - Slacker *DISCLAIMER: I hereby declare that I do not own the rights to this music/song. Know Your Infamy: A Deep Dive with The Infamists
The Infamists give me some insight into their own version of rock and roll. We also discuss the problems with "pay to play" promoters plaguing the live music industry. Of course, we discuss the history and progression of the band. The Infamists are a three-headed rattlesnake that purveys all forms of rock and roll. Driven by the blues and channeled through a power trio medium, the group has explored sounds ranging from psychedelic rock to heavy metal with an "anything goes" mentality. On stage, the band peaks and winds through psychedelic jams and Sabbath-inspired riff anthems, all accented by a native Southern twang. Die Würst: Punks, Family, and Flying Bratwurst!
EThis episode, we're getting rowdy with the Dallas punks, Die Würst! Joining us are vocalist Sean, the fiery frontman with a voice that could shatter glass, his cousin Matt who lays down the thunderous basslines, and guitarist Jesse, the riff maestro who injects pure chaos into their sound.Die Würst have been making waves in the local scene, known for their electrifying live shows that morph from skate punk anthems to full-on hardcore mosh pits. We'll be talking about their upcoming EP, produced by a surprise guest – a member of the legendary Reliant K and Jesse tells us about his history in television production and the transition into the scene from California! Buckle up as we dissect the creative process and the influence this collaboration might have on their sound. Set The Tone on Ska
EIt's my favorite kind of episode. It's a ska episode. I had a conversation with Dustin and Sam from the highly energetic SKA band, Set the Tone. We also have two world-streaming song premiers from the band. As always, we go into the band's founding, inspirations, and past performances, and Sam has an extensive record of opening for some of the best ska bands in the industry. These two are incredibly humble, and I'm happy to bring you this episode as we play the best SKA music you've probably never heard of. Loyal Sally: So Loyal, They Never Miss a Gig (Even When They Should)
EBubba and I talk about why AC left the band and what they have in store for the future. It's a Nonstarter
EWe sit down to discuss how Nonstarter came to be, and that branched into discussions about audio engineering, past projects, and how Shaun has items sitting in the Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas. Talking to these two made me realize how lucky we are in Dallas to have the talent we do. Tony, a long-time veteran of the punk band Fat By The Gallon, gave me permission to leak a never-before-heard song... So, hopefully, Chris does not karate chop my face for leaking it. Seriously, if you love punk, documentaries, and three middle-aged dudes shooting the sh&t, then you'll love this episode. The Asshats: Loud, Chaotic, and Questionably Named
EDallas punk outfit, The Asshats, elbow their way into your ear holes for an episode that's equal parts raucous and introspective. From Alex's panic-stricken band naming story to their recording adventures. But amidst the mayhem, they get real about mental health and the dangers of drunk driving. Plus, Cameron gives us the insight into his life as a recording engineer and Alex amazes me with how powerful his performance is for how young he is. The Effin'CrunchCrew & The Austin Young Show Part 2
bonusEHold onto your sides, folks, because The Effin' CrunchCrew and The Austin Young Show are back for Part 2, and the "effin' mumble jumble" is reaching epic proportions! Buckle up for more outrageous stories, this time involving the Effinays' (allegedly?) shady side hustles and Big Spook's (possibly?) questionable business ventures. Remember, it's all in good fun and definitely not based on any real-life illegal empires...wink wink. This episode promises the same gut-busting laughs as Part 1, so get ready for some hilarious (and fictional) hijinks!https://www.theeffincrunchcrew.com Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. I "Flipping" Love You!
EAh, Valentines Day. A day for awkward first dates, overpriced chocolates, and, apparently, falling head over heels in love... with ska. Brace yourselves, ska-natics, because we're about to rewind to that love-drunk day with the one and only Flip from Flip & The Combined Effort!Picture this: a microphone cradled in my nervous hands, a ska beat pulsing through the studio like a caffeine IV, and across from me... Flip. Not flipping burgers, mind you, but flipping the script on our understanding of ska's true depth. We're talking educators-turned-punk-rock-poets, dissecting the genre with more precision than a surgeon wielding a pogo stick. Then came the real mic drop: Flip's insights into the ska scene's rising stars. He namedropped bands faster than a kid at a candy buffet, each pick more surprising than the last. Forget your run-of-the-mill two-tone, we're talking ska infused with punk, ska with a Latin twist, ska that could make your grandma skank (not that I'd recommend it, Nana). So, tune in, skank out, and let Flip's words wash over you like a wave of checkered Vans. This interview's got more heart than a Hallmark greeting card and enough ska to fuel a thousand circle pits at Three Links. It's a love letter to the genre, a testament to its evolution, and a reminder that sometimes, the greatest love stories start with a wobbly skank and a slightly off-key trombone solo. Happy (belated) Valentine's Day, ska fans! Now go forth and spread the love, one pogo at a time.(Disclaimer: Pogoing at your own risk. BOOF
It's not every day you sit down with a band and one of the members says, "Hey, remember that time we smoked meth out of a lightbulb?". Well, that's what you get with the self-described Riot Girl New Era hardcore band. BOOF is the savior the hardcore genre needs. A fast and brutal sound that breaks through all the toxic masculinity and gives a voice to the voiceless. If you live in the southeast United States, see BOOF on tour, where they scheduled the dates so it would be in the shape of a penis on the map. I'll play some songs off their brand new EP. And The Winner Is...
We play some of the best artists up for the Dallas Entertainment Awards. We also decide to crown the true champion in a Coke vs. Pepsi challenge. We bring in my mother, Lisa, to be an impartial administrator for the challenge. I also give an acceptance speech and a losing speech for the award categories I was nominated in (our show was prerecorded, so we have zero clue who won). Prank Calling Toxic Madness
EFinally some answers! Buckle up for a new episode featuring Toxic Madness that's as explosive as their live shows. Aidan and DJ are in the hot seat today, spilling the tea on why Nelson, the former guitarist, decided to leave the band. And in between the laughs and confessions, I'm throwing you a sonic feast of brand new Toxic Madness tracks. We've got riffs that are harder than a cheese grater on your knuckles, vocals that soar higher than a squirrel on meth, and beats that'll turn your living room into a mosh pit (furniture not included). So crank up the volume, strap in for the ride, and let Toxic Madness take you on a journey fueled by laughter, music, and the occasional questionable prank call. I don't think Aidan has forgiven everyone for flying rather than drive with him to California.
