Behind the Scenes with Lynnea Phillips on IU's Social Media and NIL Strategy

Talk to anyone at IU about Indiana’s social media output, and one name comes up more than any other: Lynnea Phillips. And with good reason. Hoosier Storytime: Talking 1992-93 with Brian Evans

In this edition of Hoosier Storytime, we get the inside scoop on one of the greatest teams in IU basketball history from one of the greatest examples of player development: Brian Evans. Brian played on the last few IU teams that were truly at the epicenter of college basketball. He was a redshirt on the 1992 Final Four team and a key rotation piece on the 1993 Elite Eight team that many people think would have won it all were it not for Alan Henderson's knee injury. We talk at length about what it was like playing with so many great players like Henderson, Calbert Cheaney, Greg Graham, Damon Bailey, etc.Plus: why Brian wanted to kick the Fab 5's ass so badly, who from those early 90s teams would win in a shooting contest, and whether or not he felt threatened by Bob Knight's recruitment of Ivan Renko (or Bob Knight's offseason threats that there might not be a spot for Evans on the next year's team). We also discuss player development in general, the shooting woes of the current program, and what it was like popping his shoulder back into place on the court. All of that and much more in this edition of Hoosier Storytime. Our private IU basketball discussion community: http://assemblycall.com/communityPlaybook Products: http://assemblycall.com/ppSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The Inside Story of the Greatest Tweet in IU Basketball History

Wait, this a 90-minute episode about a tweet? You’re damn right it is. Because the viral tweet the IU mens basketball program sent yesterday isn’t just a great story on its own; it’s a microcosm of a dramatic shift within the athletic department that has Indiana sports poised to be a national leader for years to come.First, Jerod Morris talks to longtime assistant AD Jeremy Gray (@IUJGray) about how IU’s epic troll of the most unreasonable elements of its fan base came about, and how it fits into a larger narrative about the departments commitment to NIL, having an engaging public persona, and putting athletes first. Then, assistant director of video services Andrew Brown (@IUAndrew) joins to discuss how the tweet itself came about, the “branding meetings” going on behind the scenes with IU players, and how he and the other members of the department get their inspiration for the content that has been engaging Indiana sports fans for the last year-plus.If you missed the tweet, rectify that now: https://twitter.com/IndianaMBB/status/1387087262073171971Also, here is the URL Jerod mentions off the top: http://assemblycall.com/ppSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
