“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain” Text: Exodus 20:7 This scripture reminds us that bearing God’s name is a sacred responsibility, not just a spoken claim. To take His name “in vain” means to take it falsely or without sincerity. As Christians, we bear the name of Christ — we are called His people, His children, and His representatives in this world. Taking His name involves commitment, like a marriage vow that binds us to Him for better or worse, as Job declared, “Blessed be the name of the Lord.” It also reflects character — our lives should display Christ’s likeness in our words, actions, and love, not just in outward profession. If a blind person followed us for two weeks, would they know we’re Christians by how we live? Finally, it speaks of circumstance — we are called by His name to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from sin (2 Chronicles 7:14). For His name’s sake, He restores, leads, and forgives us. So let us confess, call upon, and commit to His name — not taking it in vain, but living in a way that honors the name above every name.

In Romans 13:8–14, Paul gives a clear and urgent call to believers — “It’s time for change.” God is calling His people to wake up, to live with spiritual awareness and moral urgency, knowing that Christ’s return is near. The knowledge of His coming should stir our hearts to live differently, reflecting His light in a dark world. It’s time for a change in our appetite, casting off the works of darkness and putting on the new man in Christ; a change in our armor, as we put on the armor of light and walk in dependence on Him; a change in our attitude, to walk honestly before God and others; a change in our application, to not just know the Word but to live it; and a change in our allocation, making no provision for the flesh. Like soldiers who burn their ships, we must leave no way back to sin. When we truly “put on the Lord Jesus Christ,” His presence will be seen in us—His love, His compassion, His strength—and the world around us will be changed. “Keep His Word and the Word Will Keep You” Text: Proverbs 6:20–22In this episode, we are reminded of the power and protection found in God’s Word. The command is clear—“Keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother.” When we keep God’s Word close to our hearts, the Word will, in turn, keep us. Psalm 119 shows the deep love and delight the psalmist had for the law of the Lord: “O how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day.” The believer who treasures the Word finds both guidance and peace—“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”The Word of God guides us—it directs our steps and keeps us on the right path. It grows us by shaping our hearts and minds into the image of Christ. It gears us up, equipping us to face temptation and trials. It grabs us—holding our attention and affection when the world tries to pull us away. And the Word guards us, protecting us from evil influences and sin’s destruction.When we learn to keep His commandments, we discover the promise that “it shall keep thee.” God’s Word is not just a book to be read but a living guide to be obeyed and loved. It becomes a gift that brings peace, protection, and power to the believer who treasures it.
