They discuss the unique application of Automation and AI at sea, specifically around the Mayflower Autonomous Ship project, which is attempting to become the first entirely automated vessel to traverse the Atlantic Ocean. Don explains how this "AI Captain" operates and makes decisions while at sea. He also elaborates on safety, trust, and international marine regulations and how AI explainability is such an important part of the Mayflower Autonomous Ship (or any other AI system). Jerry and Don close by exploring how lessons learned from Automation at sea can be applied back to an enterprise setting.
