Show Notes

Linda Moulton Howe reports on a Canadian farmer in Saskatchewan who has lost over twenty cattle to mysterious mutilations since the early 1970s, including twelve animals in 1995 alone. The farmer describes a midnight encounter with a greenish, saucer-shaped object hovering in his pasture, accompanied by two small reptilian-looking figures roughly three feet tall. He details the precise surgical excisions found on his cattle, distinguishing them from predator kills, and explains how insurance companies refuse to pay because no official will classify the deaths as mutilations.

Elton Elliot, author of the anthology NanoDreams, then introduces nanotechnology as the science of building structures atom by atom from the molecular level upward, the reverse of all previous human engineering. He describes applications including self-repairing smart bricks that regulate temperature, molecular machines small enough to travel through capillaries repairing cellular damage, and spacecraft capable of self-healing in transit.

Elliot warns that nanotechnology will fundamentally transform humanity, declaring this the last generation that will be recognizably human. He raises concerns about weaponized nanomachines capable of disassembling targets molecule by molecule, and urges open development to prevent secret military monopolization of the technology.
