Show Notes
Good morning. Arizona. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Step outside and you'll feel something special. Sunshine and warmth are taking over. Phoenix climbs to 88 degrees — about 27 degrees above normal for early March. Tucson hits 84. Up in Flagstaff, you top out at 59 under clear blue skies.
Tonight stays mild. Phoenix drops to 59. Tucson settles near 50. Flagstaff gets chilly at 27 degrees.
But here's where things get interesting. A cut-off low pressure system is sitting off Baja California right now, moving east-northeast toward the border. That means moisture is heading our way.
Monday brings a big change. Showers develop Monday morning across southern Arizona, spreading north through the day. By 5 P.M., thunderstorms are likely across central and eastern Arizona. Phoenix sees a 60 percent chance of showers and storms. Tucson jumps to 80 percent.
Rainfall totals range from a tenth to a quarter inch in most spots. Higher terrain could see up to four-tenths of an inch. Mountain peaks above 8,000 feet might get a dusting to 2 inches of snow. Some thunderstorms could produce small hail Monday evening.
Tuesday morning wraps up the wet weather. Showers taper off by late morning. Phoenix reaches 75 degrees. Flagstaff tops out at 56.
Then the ridge rebuilds. Wednesday brings sunshine back statewide. Phoenix climbs to 83 degrees. By Thursday, you hit 92. Friday could challenge records at 94 degrees. Flagstaff warms into the upper 60s to low 70s through the week.
Enjoy today's warmth, but keep the umbrella handy for Monday.
See you this afternoon.
