New 3D Software for Artifact Documentation and Analysis - ArchaeoTech 182
Archaeologists have been 3D scanning artifacts for a while now. But, what do you do with those scans? We post them on websites, use them in reports, and try to do some analysis, but, it's not consistent. This new paper from PLOS ONE is from the architects of a new software, Artifact 3D, that intends to take those scans and perform some high-level, detailed, analytical algorithms that are consistent and repeatable. We talk about it on this week's episode. Interested in learning about how to use X-Rays and similar technology in archaeology? Check out the linked PaleoImaging course from James Elliot!
