The Arcana Owls

The modern wonders of the world.We take a look at the creation of a set of new modern wonders.....and in some respects wonder at their placing.

In episode we step away from our normal routine and discuss one of the topics we touched on in our 2026 hit list from series 1, episode 4.The Seven Ancient Wonders of the world.Once we have dealt with the seven wonders, both ancient and modern, we enter our personally created rabbit hole and throw in a small arcane twist by individually chosing our own seven to talk about in upcoming episodes.

In this episode I take a fleeting look at some examples of Nursery Rhymes and try to make sense of the many explanations as to their meaning. I draw information from publications, foreign comparable sources and look at dates.It is an interesting subject and one we tend to take for granted.Somer have sinister connotaions and others are simple stories for children.This is a rabbit hole that will last forever.

A short but sweet delve in to a book from my formative years......... dangerous enough then and nowadays would never get published in it's original form.So sit back and enjoy a 40's look at children's hobbies.

This episode features Rob TRB and covers his thoughts on our favourite tribe, coupled with his poetry. As always I am fortunate enough to hear his work in the studio prior to publication and as always this is a good one.So enjoy it.

This episode is part of the series that looks at the lifestyle of the Durotriges up until the time of Vespasian in Brtain. This particular episode looks at the things they ate or did not, as is the case with a number of forbidden animals due to their cultural beliefs.

Personally I have been really looking forward to this episode from TRB The Runic Bard, Listening to it in the studio I found myself replaying it a lot before completing the podcast production.

HiThis is a brief introduction to the ancient tribe(s) that lived where we dwell now. The Romans called them the Durotriges and this is a brief timeline snapshot of the Rise and Fall and partial ressurection of that tribe. This will give you an indication of places we will visit later this year.The follow on podcast from this will be some of TRB's work in his more specialised field as a poet. This will be aired next wednesday.
