Speaker of the House Anthony Rota resigned yesterday in the wake of his recognition of a Ukrainian Nazi veteran in the House of Commons last week. The Liberal government has said Rota alone is to blame – not Justin Trudeau or anyone else in cabinet. True North’s Andrew Lawton says it’s not so simple. Also, the Canadian Constitution Foundation is challenging a Calgary bylaw restricting protests of drag story game under the guise of banning “hateful” messaging. Meanwhile, Waterloo, Ontario councillors are weighing whether to ban communication that makes people “feel harassed.” Joanna Baron of the Canadian Constitution Foundation weighs in.
