Environment Canada is warning that the Montreal region could see 20 to 30 millimetres of freezing rain today, with the system potentially lasting up to 24 hours. Forecasters say the ice buildup could lead to dangerous road conditions, falling branches, transit disruptions and possible power outages across much of southern Quebec. City crews are already preparing for the storm, with public works teams ready to salt roads, monitor infrastructure and respond to emergencies if conditions deteriorate. Jim Beis, a member of the Ville de Montréal Executive Committee, where he is specifically responsible for security and prevention, spoke to Andrew Carter.
