Unlike Russia, the United States has an abundance of advantageous geographical features. A location entirely within the temperate zone, numerous deep water ports and natural harbors, and an interconnected, navigable river system helped make the United States a global superpower. The current shale boom, promises to extend that legacy into the 21st Century.
