Sony Michel was the only player to score a touchdown, wide receiver Julian Edelman won SBLIII MVP, and Bill Belichick & Tom Brady got their 6th Championship win. Los Angeles Rams QB coach Zac Taylor hired as head coach by the Cincinnati Bengals. New England Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores hired as head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Jared Goff looked confused trying to run Sean McVay’s offense. Running Backs C.J. Anderson and Todd Gurley couldn’t get anything going against the Patriots defense, and WR Brandin Cooks dropped two difficult passes in the endzone that could have won the Rams the game. Unless Tom Brady goes Liam Neeson during an interview his legacy in the NFL seems perfect. So perfect that Brady and Robert Kraft may have engaged in an open mouth kiss after the game. Tight End Rob Gronkowski made a key catch in the 4th quarter to help the Patriots score the only TD of the game. The stars may have been the kickers. Stephen Gostkowski missed a field goal early after Jim Nantz cursed him. Johnny Hekker set the record for longest punt in a Super Bowl. Greg Zuerlein nailed a 53 yard field goal, and Ryan Allen was perfect. Even Tony Romo seemed board broadcasting this game for CBS. Aaron Donald hit Tom Brady and threw him to the ground once, that was fun. Denver Broncos vs Kansas City Chiefs Monday Night Football S***fest. Episode 21 of the That's Good Sports podcast hosted by Brandon Perna and Will Keys. Today we review the Broncos 27-23 4th quarter loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Despite playing about 3 and a half quarters of very solid football, the Denver Defense could not stop Mahomes, Kareem Hunt and Travis Kelce when it mattered the most in the 4th quarter. Case Keenum could have been a Denver hero, but he overthrew Demaryius Thomas in the final seconds for what would have been a game winning touchdown pass. Von Miller, Bradley Chubb, Shaquil Barrett, and Shane Ray combined for zero sacks on quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Andy Reid called a very good 4th Q. The Chiefs dared the Broncos to beat them with back to back penalties putting them in a second and 30. Mahomes completed a 23 yard pass, to kill the Mile High Magic. The Broncos secondary played very well, and rookie running backs Royce Freeman looked unstoppable, until Vance Joseph and Bill Musgrave stopped feeding them the ball. Garrett Bolles continues to have pass protection and holding problems on the offensive line. Case Keenum hasn't thrown a touchdown pass since week 1, and has 1 pick in each of the last 3 games. The New England Patriots lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis retires at halftime against the Los Angeles Chargers. Derek Carr was 29 of 32 for 188 yards and a touchdown. That’s a 90 percent completion rate. Marshawn Lynch was held to 65 yards on 18 carries and 1 rushing TD. Amari Cooper was the Raiders leading receiver with 10 catches for 116 yards. Martavis Bryant outperformed Jordy Nelson in his White Tiger return to the field. Tight end Jared Cook was kept in check after putting up 180 yards against the Los Angeles Rams. Case Keenum threw a red zone interception in the first half, after a beautiful 53 yard Phillip Lindsay rush. Von Miller should have had two sacks and a strip fumble, but the fumble sack on Carr was negated by a Todd Davis penalty. Case Keenum rushed for the other Broncos TD, and both rookie receivers Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick had touchdown receptions called back by the referees. Emmanuel Sanders was the leading Broncos receiver in the Mile High City. Jake But is finding a bigger role in the offense 4 catches for 48 yards. Shaq Barrett blocked and extra point in the first half that was huge for the final 20-19 score, and Domata Peko was a force to be reckoned with on the defensive line. NFL Preseason really starts today! Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas revealed he’s been dealing with a severe hip injury that nearly forced him to retire. He says he hadn’t been healthy for 2 full seasons, but changed his diet and workout routines that have helped reduce inflammation in his body, and has him feeling like he wants to play in the NFL for 15-16 years. The Denver Broncos officially signed rookie and 5th overall pick from the 2018 NFL Draft Bradley Chubb to a 4 year, 27 million dollar deal that includes a 17.9 million dollars signing bonus.
