That Sounds Fun with Annie F. Downs

One of my favorite worship leaders, Davy Flowers, is on the podcast today and I couldn't be happier! We sat down together and chatted about being all in with Jesus, calling Him friend, and memorizing scripture. Y'all. Davy sang a little for us (TWICE!) and I was beside myself with happy. Her first full length album I Was Loved is absolutely beautiful and made me straight up sob. GAH! It's so good! . . . . Go to hereforyoutour.com to get your tickets to our upcoming tour this June! I just love Ann Voskamp. She's a dear friend, the kindest voice, and she teaches us to be brave! We talked about the sovereignty of God, what a day of rest looks like for us, and communion with other people. Also...you know it wouldn't be a proper conversation with Ann if it didn't include chatting about farm life and what books we're both currently reading! Ann's first children's book, Your Brave Song, is so special. And what a great Valentine's Day gift for the miniBFFs in your life! (Also, be sure to listen all the way through to the end of this episode when one of you had a very fun surprise for me! Spoiler alert...I love parades!!) . . . . This one is about to get up in your business. Mike Donehey, one of my favorite artists, authors, and one of my downright favorite humans, comes on the show and BRINGS THE WORD over and over. Chatting with Mike about forgiveness, peacemaking, and the name of Jesus...gracious this one is gold from start to finish (and speaking of finish... the last 10 minutes of this episode really went off the rails when we all learn about Mike's incredible hidden skill/party trick). I am honored to have my friend, Toni Collier, join us for a conversation about pressing into healing. Toni and I always have such a fun (and loud) time together and this conversation is no different! We chat about the balance between our writing process and healing, divorce, counseling, and the importance of having a diverse community of friendship that surrounds you. Toni's organization, Broken Crayons Still Color is doing some important work and I know you're going to love her new book, Brave Enough to Be Broken. And just a note that this would be a good one to listen through before any miniBFFs are within earshot. . . . . You guys! I am so excited to share this conversation with my new friends, Pastor Glenn and Holly Packiam. Oh man. What an honor to have the one and only Santa Claus back in the studio this year. We talked a bit about Santa's shell company, Dolly Parton, the naughty and nice lists, and a new game Santa invented that really got us giggling. In a TOTALLY unrelated side note...Dave Barnes is brilliant and you should check out his new album, Remembering: Greatest Hits Acoustic. What a gift to have Ellie Holcomb in the studio to chat all things Christmas! Ellie is such a dear and wise friend and I loved this conversation. We talk about what it looks like to ponder and take in the beauty and the good we see, making space to remember, and how to do the Christmas season well (especially with kids). Ellie's new children's book Sounding Joy is ADORABLE and I definitely recommend gifting it to ALL the miniBFFs in your life! Also be sure to check out her album Sing: Christmas Songs as well!
