Texarkana Talks

Richard Daly retired from the Chicago Police Department and found his way to Texarkana where he is currently serving as our TTPD Chaplain. We had a great visit this morning.

Texarkana Texas Mayor Bob Bruggeman started out as an appointee on the city council and became Mayor in 2012. At 13 years that makes him the longest serving Mayor in Texarkana History. We realized that this morning, but we had a great conversation covering many topics. Share!

Sergeant Joshua Zarazua is the local coordinator for the USMC Toys for Tots program. This year the program is struggling due to foolishness of individuals stirring up drama. The Toys for Tots program has never been about any individual, or egos, the mission is our less fortunate children and always has been. Ms. Jennifer stops in to discuss the urgent need for cold weather gear at the Shelter, but also all of the planning going into this year's meal on Thanksgiving Day for all in the community that would like to share a meal and company. Make your plans to be a part of it!

This morning we visited with Candace Taylor and Josh Lawrence of "Majestic Jazz". We talked about so many different topics, from Jazz Music, to R&B, to Praise, and love for Gospel. We had a great time, get to know them!

Our 2025 Texarkana Veterans Day Parade & Extravaganza set for November 8 in downtown is being put together with everyone in mind. Parade, food, vendors of all sorts, fun, games, crafts, and more. Camille Wrinkle joins us this morning to discuss Harvest Texarkana Regional Food Bank and the efforts underway to help our neighbors in these tough times. Harvest Texarkana is planning a multi-point distribution event for Thursday, November 6.

This morning we visited with Jonathon McIntyre with the Marine Corp League to discuss Toys for Tots 2025, the upcoming Marine Corps Ball, and fundraiser. We also discuss the loss of our local Marine Corps Reserve Unit and what the future may bring for Texarkana.

Our current Bowie County Jerry Rochelle joins us to discuss the office, and his upcoming reelection to serve the citizens of Bowie County.

Visiting with local author, JD Hurst. She has been receiving a lot of attention with her books in the "Christian-Romance" genre. We discuss inspiration, process, and more.

Anna Allgor with Shorty's Donuts visits with us this morning about Texarkana's Oldest Diner and favorite Donut Shop and a little bit of almost everything else!

Big program today, we start with James Atchley and Michael McQuerry sharing expertise in security with Safe Haven Security Group here in Texarkana. We then visit with Samantha Knox, Jacob Lee, and Dakota Boswell. They organized this last weekend's prayer vigil at the downtown Federal Building.

Today we were able to talk about how much better "local" is in Texarkana. Col Taylor sat in for the program to talk about how local grows local, and how we can help!

Chase Livingston is passionate about truly helping teens and young adults develop confidence, leadership skills, and a healthy mindset for a happy life. We talk about his journey from struggle to purpose, the work he is doing with our local youth, and how you can take practical steps toward building your own "Garden of Greatness".
