Paul Cambria

This episode features Paul Cambria, a criminal defense lawyer known for his work on First Amendment Cases. We wanted to speak with Cambria especially because of his long history working with the adult industry, with clients from Larry Flynt to Playboy, Vivid, Evil Angel, and nearly every major porn studio of the 90s and 2000s. We spoke with Paul about what it was like working on legendary first amendment cases, his long relationship with Larry Flynt (including being with him the day he was shot), and why porn is so often caught up in issues of free speech. We look at how the legal landscape around pornography has changed with the advent of the internet and discuss the infamous Cambria List - a set of Dos and Don'ts that circulated in the porn industry meant to help studios navigate censorship but which ended up being a guide for police and prosecutors attempting to crack down on the industry.
