Hello! And welcome to the fifth episode of Hammer House of Podcast, where Paul Cornell (Doctor Who, Elementary) and L.M. Myles (Verity!) discuss, in order of UK release, every horror movie made by Hammer Film Productions between 1955 and 1976, from The Quatermass Xperiment to To the Devil… A Daughter. This month it's time for The Man Who Cheated Death, about a man...who cheats death. Christopher Lee's in it, which is lovely, and he wears a tux. Alas, his tux-wearing skills are not quite good enough to distract from the endless five hour scenes where words start to lose all meaning. For one of us; Paul was clearly watching an entirely different movie and didn't think the world would end before we reached the end credits.
