Skywatchers in the Northern Hemisphere, mark your calendars for April and May! The Lyrids shower, active from April 14th to 30th, peaks on the 21st and 22nd with 15-20 meteors per hour. Face east around 11 p.m. local time to spot them. Following close behind, the Eta Aquariids shower, from April 19th to May 28th, peaks on the 5th and 6th, offering up to 50 fast meteors per hour. View from dark rural spots, let your eyes adjust, and enjoy the free celestial fireworks!
