Little Snitch, a popular network monitor for macOS, has released a free Linux version. It allows users to track and block unwanted internet connections from apps, supporting Linux distributions with kernel six point twelve or newer. Early tests show a significant difference in activity between macOS and Linux, with Linux showing fewer system processes reaching out over the internet. However, the Linux edition is not a full security suite and apps still behave the same across platforms. Notable exceptions include LibreOffice Writer, which showed no network activity during tests. Users can now download and monitor their Linux setup for transparency without the heavy security label.
