James Strahler, a 37-year-old from Ohio, becomes the first person convicted under the federal Take It Down Act for creating AI deepfakes. The law, signed by President Trump in 2025, targets nonconsensual intimate images created or edited with AI. Strahler pleaded guilty to four counts, including cyberstalking and producing child sex abuse material using AI tools.
