SERVICE AS SACRED UNION
When we open our hearts in service to another sentient being, we are not merely performing a worldly action, but participating in a divine act of spiritual connection. Through service, we are lifted beyond our perceived duality, recognizing the One that has always been present, beyond our imagined separateness. The moment we offer ourselves in service, we surrender to a higher calling…..one that invites us to transcend the illusion of separation and merge with the boundless love at the core of all life. In this sacred giving, we align with the sacred flow, a current as ancient as time itself. Service is a doorway to the beloved, an invitation to remember our true nature. As we open ourselves to another, the boundaries that once defined us….our identities, our separateness, our fears….begin to dissolve. In these moments, we are no longer "I" and "them," but united in the one sacred heart that beats within us all. The act of service becomes a prayer, an offering of love, where the lines between self and other blur and fade into the oneness of the divine. Through service, we are reminded of our interconnectedness, of the sacred presence that flows through every being. The more we serve with an open heart, the more we perceive that love is not a limited resource, but an infinite wellspring flowing abundantly from the Source, nourishing all who are open to receive. In giving from the heart, we receive not just gratitude or recognition, but the profound experience of touching the beloved within ourselves and others. In this sacred connection, this divine interplay, we discover that service is not about what we give, but what we awaken within ourselves. Every act of love, every moment of care, is an opportunity to attune to the sacred rhythm of the universe and connect with the higher Self that resides within us. As we open our hearts to another, we simultaneously open the gateway to the fullness of our own soul, realizing that we are both the giver and the receiver of the LOVE that binds all of creation. Service is the path that leads us back to the ONE, back to the realization that we are all expressions of one Source. As we give, we are reminded that in the great spiritual truth, there is no separation between "us" and "them." We are all emanations of the same eternal love, and every act of service is a reflection of the love that is ever-present, ever-giving, and ever-flowing within and through us all. Through service, we remember that in loving another, we are loving ourselves, and in loving ourselves, we are loving the ONE LOVE that resides in every being. MEHER BABA
Love is the fountain of life-giving water. No one and no thing can live without love. This expression varies according to the capacity of the receiver and the giver, and in its highest form, love is divinity. To love is to live. You cannot really live without love. The omnipotent laws of nature have this power in its divine potency pervading the universe. The right to strike at the chord of love only belongs to the brave and sturdy at heart. Essentially, love is self-communicative. Those who do not have it catch it from those who have it, for one cannot absorb love without making a response. The secret of true love is that it is unconquerable and irresistible. True love gathers power and spreads itself until it transforms everyone else. Humanity will attain a new mode of life through the unhampered interplay of pure love as it spreads from heart to heart. ANYTHING NOT ROOTED IN THE SOIL OF LOVE FLOWERS NOT.
A sacred truth imparted to me many years ago by my then principal teacher, my guru…Yogiraj Sat Gurunath Siddanath… among the many priceless gifts he bestowed upon me, this one remains etched in my heart: "Anything not rooted in the soil of love, flowers not." This simple yet profound message speaks to the very essence of life. Any thought, word, or action not anchored in love from its very inception cannot truly bloom. It cannot endure. It is destined to fail because it is not aligned with the most fundamental truth….the will of the universe, which is love. Any intention, whether thought, word, or deed, that arises without love at its core, and without its companions….kindness and compassion….pulls us away from the truth. It steers us away from the heart of creation. And like all that is false, it will ultimately fade into nothingness. For in the grand design of the universe, only love endures. It is the driving force of existence, and everything that is not rooted in love will ultimately perish, for it is not part of the eternal flow of creation. The universe is built to create love, and nothing else. Chasing Shadows
The pursuit of wealth, though often celebrated, is but a fleeting illusion, a mirage that tempts the soul but never truly quenches its thirst. No matter how much we acquire, no matter how many riches we accumulate, there is always a gnawing emptiness that lingers within us, whispering that something is missing. And why? Because we do not truly know what "enough" is. In our blind chase for more, we fail to recognize that what we seek can never be found in material things. At the heart of this insatiable desire lies a deeper longing, a yearning that mirrors the cravings of an addict. The alcoholic, the drug addict, and the one who chases wealth all seek the same thing….an attempt to fill a void, to heal a sense of separation from the divine. We look outside of ourselves for what can only be found within, attempting to bridge the gap between us and the divine, to restore our lost union with the infinite. The truth is, the divine resides within us, in the silent depths of our being. Love, the eternal and boundless force that connects all, already flows through us. But in our relentless search for fulfillment through wealth, we are led astray, further from the truth. Like an addiction, the pursuit of material wealth pulls us farther away from the very essence of what we seek… union with the divine, the awareness that we are already whole. Money, in its essence, is neither good nor evil. It is a tool, a means of exchange, but it is not the path to divinity. It will not bring us closer to the God we seek, nor to the love that we long for. For the secret lies within: we are what we are searching for. The love, the peace, the union we seek is not out there, but here, inside us. We only need to look inward to realize that we have always been ONE with it….all. ENERGY IN MOTION
There is an aspect of suffering that stems from the deep-rooted tendency to rationalize our pain. When we experience hurt or trauma, we seek to make sense of it in the mind—creating stories that help us fit the pieces together. The ego, in its wisdom, attempts to explain and categorize our wounds, believing that if it can understand the cause, the pain will dissolve. But this is an illusion. The truth is that the pain, the resonance of the experience, lingers far beyond the reach of reason. It is not the mind that heals the heart, but the body that holds the energy. The resonance of trauma…..the energetic imprint it leaves behind…..becomes embedded in the very fabric of our being. It enters the energy body first, then reverberates through our cells, and eventually seeps into the nervous system, leaving a subtle yet indelible mark. Over time, this unresolved energy accumulates, manifesting in some cases as physical illness or spiritual dissonance. In truth, the body is the keeper of memory, and all unresolved pain is stored within it until we find a way to release it…essentially to cry out our pain. From about the age of two, as we begin to develop cognition, we begin trying to make sense of our experiences. The emerging of our cognition and ego structures begin to think we can rationalize the pain away, unconsciously convincing ourselves that the energy of the experience will pass out from us this way. But this is a false comfort. Like a baby’s cry, which is not just a sound but a powerful vibration, the energy of trauma holds a certain resonance. A baby’s cry is not only a release of emotion; it is a cry-out to the universe, to clear the shadow from the energy body and restore the soul to its original state of love—its true frequency. We are born of this vibration: 528 Hz……the frequency of unconditional love. As we journey through life, these experiences—painful and unprocessed—collect in our energy field, creating distortions. Anger, fear, and grief form layers that veil our true nature. But it is always grief at the core. Grief is the deepest wound, the one that keeps us tethered to the past. It’s the wound from which all other emotional distortions spring. Fear and anger are but the surface manifestations of this buried grief. We walk through life carrying the weight of these unresolved energies, unaware of the toll they take on our body and soul. The ego believes it can overcome trauma by rationalizing it, by thinking its way out of the pain. But energy cannot be processed in this way. We cannot rationalize our trauma out of existence. We can only release it, by feeling it fully, by crying it out, by letting the energy return to the flow. Like a baby, we must cry out, not just when the need arises, but whenever we are called to release the shadow that clouds our heart. The key to healing is not in the mind’s attempts to make sense of it all, but in the soul’s call to let go, to return to love. Yet, many of us find it difficult to cry. We hold the grief, the anger, the fear, believing we must carry it. But the body does not lie, and eventually, the energy demands to be released. This is where the mystic practice of allowing the energy to surface comes in. Through deep inner work and spiritual practices, we can create space for the energy to move, to be expressed, to be released. And when we allow this process, we return to our original state—love, the true vibration of our being. The Peace Of Wild Things
When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.” — Wendell Berry Get full access to Tea and Zen - Threads at teaandzen.substack.com/subscribe In the quiet between heartbeats a whisper calls you home, you are not broken you are becoming. "Do you seek the source of your creation here on earth? It is here, always has been. It never left. You only believed it did. This belief—that all LOVE has been lost, in becoming human—is the root cause of all human suffering. All I know is love A billion times God has turned manInto Himself You stand in line for theHighest giftFor His generosity cannot end. But best to bring an instrument alongWhile waiting in the cold desert And make some dulcet soundsTo accompany the palms’ swaying armsThat are casting silhouettesAgainst the sky’s curtainFrom our fire. Remind the Friend of your desireAnd great patience. A billion times God has turned manBack into Herself. The Sacred Balance: Truth, Boundaries, and Love
In a world veiled by illusion and noise……where confusion masquerades as clarity and conflict often drowns out meaning—truth remains a light that awakens the soul. Yet when truth is delivered without care or held without compassion, it can wound more than it heals. For truth to become a vehicle of transformation, it must be carried gently…..contained within spiritual boundaries that shield our inner life, and infused with the harmonizing presence of love. Those who have walked the mystical path through the ages have known that truth is not always a comfort. It can liberate, yes…..but it can also unsettle, dismantle, and expose. When spoken without discernment, truth becomes a blade rather than a balm. This is why boundaries are essential…..not to divide, but to safeguard. They create the sacred space in which truth can be shared with grace and received with openness. They help us stay whole while engaging the world honestly. And then there is love. Love is not an addition to truth, but its essential companion. It is the frequency that softens what truth reveals. With love, boundaries become not fortresses, but sanctuaries. Truth becomes not a force of destruction, but of healing. Without love, truth can become harsh. Without love, boundaries may breed distance or fear. But when love holds both—when truth is offered with compassion and boundaries are drawn with wisdom…..we participate in something divine. We become messengers not only of insight, but of deep, sacred change. In these uncertain times, may we walk with clarity. May we speak with honesty, protect our spirit with care, and above all, move through the world in love. INTEGRITY
At the root of much of our pain and suffering lies a profound spiritual truth: we are out of alignment with the deepest wisdom of our own hearts. Most of us, much of the time, are disconnected from the sacred truth that resides within us. We say "yes" to people, places, and things that we long to say "no" to, driven by a deep-seated fear that, if we speak our truth, we might lose something precious—something that we believe gives us love, validation, or a sense of belonging. But the paradox is this: the love we are seeking externally is already woven into the very fabric of our being. It is not out there. It is here, within us, waiting to be recognized, waiting to be embraced. Can you imagine a world where, in each moment, we can pause, check in with our hearts, and honor the quiet wisdom found there? Where we can stand in the fullness of our truth—spoken with love, tenderness, and reverence for ourselves and others? What a world that would be. When we fail to honor the truth of our hearts, when we defer to the expectations of others or the demands of the world, we abandon ourselves. We betray the sacred contract we have with our own soul. It takes courage to say "no." In saying "no," we risk rejection, the possibility that the love or connection we have known will slip away. But here lies the essential truth: it is our sacred responsibility to be in integrity with our heart's deepest knowing. It is our divine duty to align with our soul's truth, no matter how daunting that may feel. This is where the soul’s alchemy occurs. In the act of surrendering, of trusting that our truth is the path to liberation, we transcend the fears that bind us. We let go of the illusion of survival through external validation and step into the eternal, unshakable love that has always been within us. By choosing to honor our heart’s truth, we not only set ourselves free, but we also invite the other to do the same. When we live authentically, we give others permission to live authentically too. It’s a sacred exchange—an offering of love that is pure, unguarded, and rooted in truth. So, let us be in alignment with the truth of our hearts—not the truth of others, not the truth of a societal ideal, but the divine truth that calls to us from the depths of our being. This truth is not always easy to face, but it is the gateway to our freedom. It is the gateway to peace. Ask your heart, "Is this in alignment with my truth?" And listen. The love you’ve been seeking is already within you. You are the love you’ve been waiting for. Can we begin now? Can we, in each moment, choose to live in alignment with the divine truth within us? Because when we do, we step into a life of profound healing, freedom, and unconditional love—a life that mirrors the boundless love that is already within us. THE MORNING POEM
In desperate hope, I go and search for her in all the corners of my room. I find her not. My house is small and what once has gone from it can never be regained, but infinite. is thy mention, my Lord, and seeking her, I have come to thy door. I stand under the golden canopy of thine evening sky, and I lift my eager eyes to thy face. I have come to the brink of eternity, from which nothing can vanish, no hope, no happiness, no vision of a face seen through tears. Oh, dip my emptied life into that ocean, plunge it into the deepest fullness. Let me for once feel that lost sweet touch in the allness of the universe. AN ASPECT OF GRIEF
Grief is often seen as something to be avoided….something painful, something dark. Yet, if we look beyond its surface, we find that grief is not an enemy, but a sacred release. It is the soul's way of shedding old wounds, ancient pain, the illusion that we were ever separate from love. The truth is, we were never apart from the Sacred. Grief, in its alchemy, reconnects us to the eternal oneness we have always been a part of, even when we’ve forgotten. Yes, grief is painful, but it is not merely sorrow; it is a profound healing force. If you wish to be free from anger, allow your grief. If you long to transcend fear, surrender to your grief. Beneath these emotions, grief often lies hidden, a deep current of longing and release. When we open ourselves to grief, we dissolve the illusion of separateness. We are drawn back, in time, into the embrace of the Beloved, into the arms of our true nature. Some threads of grief will linger, for its depth is boundless, but each moment of surrender is a reunion, a return to the Sacred, to the love that is both our origin and our destination. There is a spiritual transcendence in grief….an opening that comes as the pain begins to ease. It is a sacred moment, when the soul surrenders to its deepest longing and reunites with the One, with the eternal truth that underpins all things. And one more thought: when you cry, do not hold back. Do not sniff the tears back in. Let them flow freely, for there is a holiness in your tears. They carry the imprint of your soul’s journey, the release of that which no longer serves you. The mucus, the tears…..these are not simply bodily fluids; they are part of the soul’s purification. Gently release them. Do not draw them back into your body. Let them go, as they carry the old pain, the old stories, into the great river of love. Finally, do not leave yourself alone in your grief. In those tender moments, remember: you are never truly alone. We are always surrounded by the unseen support of the Sacred, and by the love of those who walk with us, whether in this world or the next. Allow yourself to feel safe in your grief. Let it be held by those who love you, and by the vast, unseen arms that embrace all who suffer. I share this with you this morning, as these thoughts have been stirring in my heart. It’s a reminder: It is not only okay to cry….it is sacred. Think of grief as a letting go, a surrender back into the arms of Love. THE HEART OF EXISTENCE
At the heart of existence, beyond the realm of time and form, there is a profound truth: we are all One. All that we see, touch, and feel, all is woven from the same sacred thread. This thread is Love…..pure, unconditional, and eternal. It is the creative force of the universe, the soul of all things. When we carry pain…..whether it is the weight of old wounds, unspoken grief, or the ache of longing….it is easy to think that in releasing it, means casting it onto others, often the people our hearts are most open to, for it is those we most love that mirror the deepest aspect of pain within. We project our hurt onto those around us, believing that by dumping the burden, we will be freed. But here lies a deeper, spiritual truth: to harm another, to pass on our pain, is to harm the very web of life itself. In reality, there is no “other,” no separation between us and the world we inhabit. Every soul is a reflection of the sacred, every life form is an extension of the same Love that flows through our own being. To inflict suffering upon another is to wound ourselves, for we are not apart from one another, but part of the same sacred whole. When we project our pain outward, we are simply adding to the collective sorrow that binds us all together in this human journey. True healing does not come from casting away our suffering, but from surrendering it to the sacred Light of Love that resides within. It comes from looking inward, facing the shadows of our pain, and offering them up to the eternal Love that is always present, always embracing. In this surrender, we dissolve the illusion of separation and reconnect with the Source from which we all come. When we heal ourselves in this way, we do not simply relieve our own suffering; we contribute to the healing of the world. As we heal our hearts, the hearts of those around us are healed. The collective pain of humanity lightens, and the sacred flow of Love, unimpeded, restores the world. In the end, the more we align ourselves with the force of Love, the more we realize that we never need to cast our pain outward. The pain, when surrendered in grace, transforms into the very light that can heal all things…..within us, and in the world. And this, dear soul, is the way of Love: to heal ourselves is to heal the world. THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING
There are few lines of poetry as imbued with mysticism and ancient promise as those spoken in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings: "From the ashes a fire shall be woken,A light from the shadows shall spring,Renewed shall be blade that was broken,The crownless again shall be king." These words are more than prophecy; they are a spell, woven from the very threads of fate and entwined into the fabric of the universe. They speak of a cosmic cycle….destruction followed by rebirth, light born from the deepest darkness, and the unshakable return of the lost and broken to their rightful place in the grand design. The image of fire rising from ashes is an ancient alchemical truth: from dissolution and decay, new life and energy are born. Ash, a symbol of death and transformation, gives birth to a flame….one that burns with a new vitality, untamed and defiant of the weight of the past. This is not a mundane fire but one awakened by destiny itself, carrying the essence of ancient wisdom and primal power. It is not mere survival, but a roaring force of creation, a rebirth that cannot be stopped. The shadows, too, are not just darkness. They are the raw, unfathomable depths of the unknown. From this place of mystery, a light shall rise….not a light of clarity, but of revelation. It is the illumination that comes when all seems lost, when the way is obscured, and the path uncertain. It is the light discovered only by the seeker, the wanderer who ventures through the dark. This light does not simply reveal the world….it transforms it, unveiling realms hidden beneath the surface of things. It is not born of the sun, but from the heart of shadows themselves….ancient, secret, infinitely wise. A broken blade, once shattered and cast aside, now sings once more with the promise of restoration. But this is no mere physical repair. It is a mystical renewal, where the very essence of the blade is reforged in the fires of fate. This blade, tempered not just by heat, but by suffering, loss, and the passage of time, carries not only the scars of battle but the wisdom and strength born from them. It is a weapon of destiny, forged for a higher purpose and wielded by one who understands the deep mysteries of the world. And finally, the crown-less….those cast aside, forgotten, forsaken…..shall rise to their rightful place. This is not a simple return to power but a mystical ascent, a reclamation of a throne that transcends the material world. It is the fulfillment of a cosmic law, the coming into one's true nature, where destiny cannot be denied. The crownless do not merely reclaim earthly rule but ascend to a higher realm of kingship….a kingship born not of birthright or conquest but of an ancient, spiritual force. The crown that once eluded them is now revealed as a symbol not of authority, but of deep, innate power…..a power that emanates from the heart of the universe itself. These words, whispered from the ancient mouths of prophets and sages, carry within them the promise of cosmic order…..a return to balance and unity after chaos. They speak of the magical cycles of the world….of death and rebirth, shadow and light, destruction and creation. They remind us that even in the darkest times, the fire of transformation is waiting to be awakened, the light of hope hidden in the shadows, the broken shall be renewed, and those who have been cast down will rise again. In the great dance of the cosmos, nothing is ever truly lost. From the ashes, the fire shall rise; from the forgotten depths of shadow, the light of destiny will spring. And the crown-less, too, shall wear their crown again….not as mere rulers, but as sovereigns of the very forces that govern life and fate. "This is, in many ways, my story, and I am still reassembling myself. As I do, mysticism and spirituality have emerged over the years…..truthfully, they’ve always been there. By releasing suffering, we awaken to our true nature of a love beyond measure, infinite in nature, the spirituality and mysticism are but ways Love communicates itself, heart and soul. THE MORNING POEM
Again, the work starts as soon as you open your eyes in the morning. Hopefully you got some good rest last night. Why go into the city or the fields without first kissing the Friend who always stands at your door? It takes only a second. Habits are human nature. Why not create some that will mint gold? Your arms are violin bows always moving. I have become very conscious upon whom we all play. Thus my eyes have filled with warm soft oceans of divine music where jeweled dolphins dance, then leap into this world. To have loved is everything. I loved, once A hummingbird who came every afternoon-the freedom loving male- Who flew by himself to sample the sweets of the garden To sit on a high, leafless branch with his red throat gleaming. And then, he came no more. And I’m still waiting for him, ten years later, To come back, and he will, or he will not. There is a certain commitment That each of us is given, that has to do with another world If there is one. I remember you, hummingbird. TRUE WISDOM
"This is yet another in the series of quotes that have emerged over the years, some stretching back decades. This time, however, they are accompanied by a written reflection, a window into the workings of my mind. Yet, I must say, these words did not spring initially from thought, not by a long shot; they flowed from a deeper realm….one that resides within the heart and soul, a place beyond the grasp of the conscious mind." "In coming to the true wisdom of the heart we offer no resistance to circumstance, surrendering to it all with the utmost humility, we come before love, before God, wherein all questions are answered beautifully, and without reservation. Nigel Lott, teaandzen.org The profound statement, “In coming to the true wisdom of the heart we offer no resistance to circumstance, surrendering to it all with the utmost humility, we come before love, before God, wherein all questions are answered beautifully, and without reservation,” captures the essence of spiritual wisdom. It suggests that the path to true understanding and peace is not through forceful striving or intellectual pursuit, but through surrender, acceptance, and a deep humility toward the unfolding of life. At the core of this wisdom is the idea of resistance—the notion that much of human suffering arises from our unwillingness to accept life as it is. When we resist circumstances, we fight against reality, creating inner turmoil. True wisdom, however, lies in releasing this resistance and allowing ourselves to be fully present with whatever comes our way. By surrendering, we stop struggling to control our surroundings, and instead, we trust in the flow of life…..indeed not an easy task. This surrender is not passive or weak. It requires humility—a willingness to acknowledge that we do not have all the answers, and that there is a larger, divine force at play. In this space of humility, we let go of the ego’s need to be in charge and make peace with the unfolding mystery of life. When we relinquish our need for control, we allow ourselves to experience a deeper connection to love and God……a force that transcends logic and reason. In this space of surrender, all questions—whether about purpose, meaning, or the nature of existence…..are answered in their own way, effortlessly and beautifully. Love becomes the ultimate guide, offering clarity that is not intellectual but experiential. In coming before love or God, we experience an inner peace that needs no explanation or justification. Ultimately, this wisdom teaches that peace, clarity, and understanding are found not in resistance or in seeking endless answers, but in surrendering with grace and humility. By coming before love and allowing it to guide us, we discover that all our questions dissolve into the serenity of a heart fully at peace with the world as it is. A NEW YEARS MEDITATION
Sit in stillness, in the quiet embrace of the present moment. Close your eyes, and with each breath, let yourself fall deeper into the silence, where the noise of the world fades into nothingness. In this sacred space, there is no past, no future— only the eternal Now. Feel the breath of the Divine flowing through you, as ancient as the stars, as timeless as the sacred forces that weave the fabric of the universe. Breathe in, not just air, but the essence of life itself— the very breath of God, the energy that sustains and nourishes all things. Exhale, letting go of all illusions, of all attachments to the ego, to the fleeting world of form. Within you, a deep well of peace stirs, an ocean of stillness that has always been, beneath the surface of the mind. This peace is not of the earth, nor bound by time. It is the peace of the eternal, the peace of the soul’s true nature. It is the silence of the divine presence that dwells within and around you. Now, as you rest in this infinite peace, feel the current of divine love coursing through your veins, like a river of light flowing from the heart of the universe. This love is not something you can grasp with the mind, nor something that comes from another. It is the essence of your being— the very fabric of your soul. It is the oneness of all creation, the mystical force that connects everything, from the smallest grain of sand to the farthest star. Know this: You are not separate. You are not alone. You are an expression of the Divine, a spark of the eternal flame, born from the heart of the universe. In this moment, you are at peace, for you are part of that which is beyond all duality— beyond thought, beyond form. Let your heart be filled with joy, not the joy of the mind, but the bliss of divine union. This joy is not an emotion, but a state of being— the recognition that all is One, and in that Oneness, there is nothing but love, nothing but peace. It is the joy of returning home, to your true self, to the Divine within. Feel the mystical presence of the Divine surrounding you, inside you, as the sacred flow of life moves through you. You are both the seeker and the sought, the knower and the known. You are the Divine, playing in the form of a human, awakening to the truth of your nature. In this silence, in this sacred space, let your soul whisper its truth: I am that I am. I am the peace that moves through the world. I am the joy that flows in the heart of the universe. Know that this peace, this joy, this mystical truth is always with you, for it is your true essence. You are the Divine, and the Divine is you. When you are ready, return to the world, but carry the remembrance of this sacred connection within. You walk now with the presence of the Divine, for you are never separate, never apart. You are at peace, you are joy, you are the living expression of the Divine Mysteries. WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE?
Riley: So what do you think happens when we die? Erin: Speaking for myself? Riley: Speaking for yourself. Erin: Myself… “My self.” That’s the problem, that’s the whole problem with the whole thing. That word. Self. That’s not the word. That’s not right, that isn’t. That isn’t… How did I forget that? When did I forget that? The body stops a cell at a time, but the brain keeps firing those neurons. Little lightning bolts, like fireworks inside, and I thought I’d despair or feel afraid, but I don’t feel any of that. None of it. Because I’m too busy. I’m too busy in this moment remembering… Of course. I remember that every atom in my body was forged in a star. This matter, this body is mostly just empty space after all. And solid matter, it’s just energy vibrating very slowly, and there is no “me.” There never was… The electrons of my body mingle and dance with the electrons of the ground below me and the air I’m no longer breathing. And I remember: There is no point where any of that ends and I begin. I remember I am energy, not memory — not self. My name, my personality, my choices — all came after me. I was before them, and I will be after, and everything else is pictures picked up along the way. Fleeting little dreamlets printed on the tissue of my dying brain. And I am the lightning that jumps between. I am the energy firing the neurons, and I’m returning — just by remembering, I’m returning home. It’s like a drop of water falling back into the ocean of which it’s always been a part. All things, a part. All of us, a part. You, me, and my little girl, and my mother, and my father, everyone who’s ever been, every plant, every animal, every atom, every star, every galaxy, all of it. More galaxies in the universe than grains of sand on the beach. And that’s what we’re talking about when we say “god.” The One. The Cosmos and its infinite dreams. We are the cosmos dreaming of itself. It’s simply a dream that I think is my life, every time. But I’ll forget this. I always do. I always forget my dreams. But now, in a split second, in the moment I remember, the instant I remember, I comprehend everything at once. There is no time. There is no death. Life is a dream. It’s a wish made again. And again. And again, and again, and again, and again, and on into eternity… And I am all of it. I am everything. I am all. I am that I am. S1 Ep 1THE WISDOM OF THE HEART
This is yet another in the series of quotes that have emerged over the years, some stretching back decades. This time, however, they are accompanied by a written reflection, a window into the workings of my mind. Yet, I must say, these words did not spring initially from thought, not by a long shot; they flowed from a deeper realm….one that resides within the heart and soul, a place way beyond the grasp of the conscious mind." “In embracing the true wisdom of the heart, we offer no resistance to circumstance, surrendering fully with the utmost humility. In this surrender, we come before love, before God, where all questions are answered with the utmost grace, and without reservation. Nigel Lott teaandzen.org These words point to a profound spiritual truth: true wisdom is not born of the intellect, but of the heart. When we surrender to life’s circumstances without resistance, we allow the flow of divine grace to enter our being. This act of surrender is not one of weakness, but of strength and trust. It is through humility….yielding to the present moment….that we encounter love in its purest form, the presence of God. In the quiet of surrender, we find answers to the deepest questions of the soul. No longer bound by the need for control or certainty, we open ourselves to a wisdom far beyond the mind’s capacity. Here, in the embrace of grace, we discover that love itself holds the answers, guiding us with a gentle, unwavering certainty. To surrender is not to give up, but to give over…..to give over to the divine flow, to the intelligence of the heart. In this sacred act, all is revealed, and peace follows. In the stillness of the heart, we are never lost; we are always found. FOREVER SACRED
This is yet another in the series of quotes that have emerged over the years, some stretching back decades. This time, however, they are accompanied by a written reflection, a window into the workings of my mind. Yet, I must say, these words did not spring initially from thought, not by a long shot; they flowed from a deeper realm….one that resides within the heart and soul, a place way beyond the grasp of the conscious mind. “Whatever is held sacred in our heart once is forever held there, once sacred forever sacred master that you are of your own soul." Nigel Lott These words echo the timeless truth that the heart, the seat of our deepest intentions and spiritual truths, is a vessel for the sacred. Whatever we choose to honor, to revere, to love deeply, becomes a permanent part of our being. The sacredness we hold within us is not fleeting—it is eternal. To understand this mystical notion, we must first recognize the profound power of the heart. In many spiritual traditions, the spiritual heart (just below the sternum) is a center of energy and consciousness. It is the gateway to the soul’s deepest desires, the place where we commune with the divine. What we choose to hold sacred in our heart becomes a living force within us, shaping not only our thoughts and actions but our very essence. When we sanctify something….whether it is love, wisdom, truth, beauty, or a higher calling….we are not simply putting it on a pedestal outside of ourselves. We are inviting it to take root within us, to transform us from the inside out. The sacred, once welcomed into the heart, cannot be undone or forgotten. It becomes imprinted on the soul, woven into the fabric of who we are. This is why we are reminded that "once sacred, forever sacred." The reverence we hold for something, whether it is a memory, a divine truth, or an ideal, continues to radiate within us long after the initial experience. The sacred does not fade….it is eternal in its imprint. Every thought, every emotion, every action stemming from that sacredness carries its energy forward, even through the most challenging times, although our awareness of that inner truth may fade during those moments. In this light, we are invited to recognize our own sovereignty, for we are "masters of our own soul." We alone choose what we hold sacred. Through our choices, we cultivate the divine presence within us. The heart is not a passive receiver; it is an active creator of the sacred. By embracing that which is holy and pure, we become not only recipients of spiritual grace but co-creators with the divine. Thus, the invitation is clear: to honor what is sacred within, to keep our hearts open to the mysteries of the divine, and to recognize that in every moment, we are the masters of the sacred space that dwells within us. What we hold sacred in our heart today shapes the essence of who we become tomorrow. So let us choose wisely, and may the sacred always be honored in the deepest chambers of our soul. IN SERVING THE HEART OF ANOTHER WE EMBRACE THE ONE LOVE THAT CONNECTS US ALL.
"In serving the heart of another, we serve the heart within us and, the one love that connects us all...simply nothing therefore is left undone." Nigel Lott In the quiet acts of kindness, compassion, and love we offer to others, we discover something profound about our own humanity. The simple truth is that in serving the heart of another, we serve the heart within us, and ultimately, the one love that connects us all. This interconnectedness, often called the "oneness of being," teaches us that every act of love reverberates back to the giver, creating a continuous flow of connection that transcends time, space, and individual differences. When we truly, with all heart, reach out to help, listen, or offer our support, we are not just fulfilling the needs of another person. We are engaging in a deep, universal exchange of energy. In this moment of connection, we are reminded that the love we extend is not separate from us….it is an expression of the love that exists in all of us. By uplifting another, we raise our own spirits, nourishing the very essence that binds us to one another. This understanding invites us to see our actions as part of a larger, divine pattern. It’s a reminder that when we give, we do not lose; rather, we create a cycle of giving and receiving that is endless. In truth, nothing is left undone because each act of service ripples outward, leaving a lasting imprint on the world. At its core, this perspective calls us to live with intention, compassion, and empathy. It teaches us that by tending to the hearts of others, we are also by the process of osmosis nurturing our own, and in the process, fulfilling the ultimate purpose of love: unity and connection…..in the cultivation of creation itself. In serving another, we realize that we are always, in essence, serving ourselves….contributing to the harmonious whole of the world. Thus, nothing, indeed, is left undone. SILENCE
“It is the silence within meeting the silence without. In that place out of time, all truth is to be found, beyond even a whisper”. Nigel Lott In the stillness of our own hearts, a profound truth awaits, one that transcends words, thoughts, and even the most subtle whispers. There is a space, quiet and infinite, where the silence within us meets the silence of the universe. In this sacred union, time dissolves, and what remains is a pure presence, untouched by the fluctuations of the world. This silence is not merely the absence of sound, but the presence of something far deeper. It is the space where the soul, free from the noise of daily life, aligns with the eternal rhythm of the cosmos. When we encounter this silence within, we come face to face with the truth of who we are, a truth that cannot be spoken, but only known through direct experience. In this sacred silence, there is no past or future, only an eternal "now." It is here that the mysteries of existence reveal themselves, not through words, but through a profound knowing that comes without effort or striving. All questions fall away, and the heart finds peace, because truth is no longer something to be grasped; it is simply something to be. Beyond even the softest whisper, beyond the reach of the mind’s grasping, this silence holds all answers. It is a place beyond time, where the soul rests in its original nature, whole, complete, and free. To enter this silence is to awaken to the presence of all LOVE, to the Divine that is always here, always now, beyond all forms, and constructs of the mind. It is in this sacred stillness that the soul remembers its eternal nature. The silence within meets the silence without, and in that union, all truth is revealed……through…. Grace. THROUGH THE STAIRWAY OF EXISTENCE
WeAre notIn pursuit of formalitiesOr fake religiousLaws, For through the stairway of existenceWe have come to God’sDoor. We arePeople who need to love, becauseLove is the soul’s life, Love is simply creation’s greatest joy. ThroughThe stairway of existence,O, through the stairway of existence, HaveYou now come,Have we all now come toThe Beloved’s Door What holds significance for me, based on my personal beliefs, is that the journey towards connecting with a higher power is incredibly close, just a fleeting moment away at any given time, a blink of any eye. The path is inherent within each of us, much like the door that leads to this connection, one with what is. The notion of a stairway and a door is, in essence, a construct of our own minds, influenced by our egocentric selves. However, in ultimate reality, we have always been united with whatever lies beyond that door.
