Today’s podcast episode is a bit special because it’s the first time we have taken the podcast on the road, namely to Paris, the City of Lights. You know, we have been visiting Paris quite frequently over the years, and while the first, pre-Taste of Prague visit was absolutely delicious dreadful, we’ve learnt to navigate Paris our own way, avoiding the tourist traps and enjoying what Paris does best - food and wine, obviously.

Now, we have posted our tips about Paris previously quite some time ago, but we thought it would be fun to talk to some insiders who have lived in Paris for quite some time and whom we have been following to get some inside scoops about what’s what in the French capital. And it this podcast, we have spoken to two absolutely fantastic ladies who are just that.

First, we talked to Lindsey Tramuta, aka Lost in Cheeseland, who’s written the amazing The New Paris, a book about the more hip side of Paris, which we have been so fond of, revolving mostly around the 11th arrondissement, but spreading elsewhere, too. Hailing from Philadelphia, she has moved to Paris to study, married, become a French citizen, and has been capturing the spiring of the New Paris through her blog, podcast, and social media.

We met in Café Oberkampf where I had the grilled cheese sandwich named after Lindsey and we talked about what the New Paris means to her, where can it be found, why she became a French citizen, and what does she miss from the US.

Next up, we met up with one of our big idols, the one and only Wendy Lyn. Do you know the cool chefs you’re following in Instagram? Well, Wendy, the proto-food-influencer, is on a first-name basis with all of them. A right-hand woman to the famous Alain Ducasse, she has become an esteemed restaurant consultant and the woman behind the Michelin Guide’s first foray into the US. She is also a natural wines evangelist, runs amazing food tours in Paris (hello!) and is now dedicating most of her time saving Venice from over-tourism.

We met in one of our favorite places in Paris, Septime La Cave, a wine bar that focuses on natural wines (they carried Richard Stávek’s wine on our visit), sipping Champagne and just laughing our behinds off. Wendy is a ton of fun, a self-confessed Southerner living in Paris, but behind the laughs is a true insider with some invaluable knowledge about the city and the food scene in Paris and just about anywhere.
