St. Pete Stand-Up Comedy Group Opens Permanent Club in Grand Central District
St. Pete Stand-Up, a popular comedy group, is set to open its own permanent comedy club in the Grand Central District this May. The new St. Pete Comedy Club will be located at 1745 First Avenue South, a three thousand six hundred square foot space previously occupied by Avid Brew Company.
The group, which started with one monthly show at St. Pete Brewing in March 2022, has since expanded to more than twenty shows a month and collaborated with comedians from across the Tampa Bay area. Founder Bob Holden is thrilled to have a dedicated home for the group, allowing him to spotlight local talent and build a stronger comedy scene in the city.
The club will feature a main stage for seventy to eighty people and a second room for another fifty to sixty. It will host showcase nights with rotating local acts, open mics, new material sessions, and recordings to share online. There will be no drink minimums, with beer, wine, and food tie-ins with nearby spots keeping tickets affordable, especially on weekdays.
This new addition to the St. Petersburg comedy scene comes as Tampas Side Splitters plans a new downtown spot this summer, further boosting the comedy world in the area.
