Louisville, led by Isaac McKneelys 23 points and Ryan Conwells 18, defeated South Florida 83-79 in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Despite a 22-point lead, the Cardinals nearly lost due to South Floridas press. Backup forward Sananda Fru posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Louisville, now the East Regions sixth seed, faces the winner of Michigan State vs. North Dakota State in the second round. Mikel Brown Junior, who sat out due to back problems, is not expected to return.
