Show Notes

The Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts launches a $10 million capital campaign to purchase a church campus in south St. Petersburg, transforming it into their first permanent community arts center. The 3.6-acre property, currently used by Lakewood United Methodist Church and Alegria Montessori School, will house dance studios, music rooms, media labs, and outdoor spaces for performances and festivals. This expansion will build upon their popular Class Acts program, offering daily after-school care, arts camps, homework help, and career mentorships. The foundation will also step back from running the Mahaffey Theater but will continue programs there while growing regionally. A community event on March 27th will share more details about this youth-focused future.
