Show Notes
Andy Johnson, a renowned meteorologist from Tampa, has passed away, leaving a significant void in the weather world and the Tampa Bay community. With a career spanning over four decades, Johnson was a certified consulting and broadcast meteorologist, holding every top certification from the American Meteorological Society. He started his journey at FSU in 1979 and spent 34 years at Fox 13 before retiring in 2013. Johnson founded his own forensic meteorology consulting firm in 1997 and was known for his kindness, mentoring, and community involvement. He played a crucial role in saving thousands of lives during Hurricane Helene and Milton and pioneered digital graphics tech nationwide. In his later years, he earned fellow status with the AMS. His husband, Bryan Farris, and family request donations to Equality Florida in lieu of flowers to honor his legacy of generosity and helping others.
