TLP 215 OPTICS 101 PART II MOUNTING & SIGHTING
TLP 215 OPTICS 101 PART II MOUNTING & SIGHTING Welcome back to the Talking Lead Show Lead Heads! We continue our optics lessons from episode TLP 208 by getting into the next steps of mounting and sighting in your rifle scope. Joining us again as guest professor is Brady Speth, CEO, of RITON Opitcs company. Also joining in with Brady as guest professor is Charlie Melton. Charlie is the owner of Charlie Mike Precision and Navy Seal Senior Chief Petty Officer retired. CMP teaches a combat proven course of instruction based on the seven principles of marksmanship combined with perfect practice and building muscle memory. They also train your subconscious mind to react under stress. CMP makes shooting a weapon a motor function like walking or breathing. Before class begins The Gunny rolls in with the Talking Lead Jackwagon Train. This week another ridiculous law discovered on the New York books that will make your food illegal if you are a Second Amendment proponent. And another Anti-Gun Group spouting off skewed facts made up stories! The Day's Lessons: Lesson 1: How to properly mount a rifle scope. Charlie starts class by discussing how to select proper mounting solutions. The importance of establishing a relaxed head/cheek position on your stock. When placement of your scope for proper eye relief should be done. Finally when to secure the screws for the base mount and the rings. One important tip is when setting your eye relief make sure your scope is at max power and you have a complete circle with no shadows. Another tip is when focusing, your cross hair is your focal point just like shooting iron sights, then you adjust your down range/parallax focus adjustments. Next before we get into sighting in your rifle Brady gives us a quick lesson on parallax and how the adjustment is used on a scope. We talk about Charlie's up coming attempt at the World's longest rifle shot at 4900 yards! Lesson 2: When sighting in your rifle you want to start at 100 yards if possible and move back in 50 yard increments. Use the same ammo for each shot. Another must have is a shooters log book to keep track of all your shots, distance, elevation, temperature, weather, etc. so if you ever encounter similar conditions you have an advantage. There is no substitute for shooting a lot to make yourself a better shot, The more you shoot the better and more accurate you become. Use the 7 principles of marksmanship: 1) Body position. 2) Grip. 3) Sight alignment. 4) Sight picture. 5) Trigger control. 6) Follow through. 7) Breathing.

TLP 214 The New Generation 5 Glock
TLP 214 The New Generation 5 Glock Welcome back to the Talking Lead Show! This week we talk details about the new features of Glock's new generation G19 & G17 9mm handguns with Cory Jones Assistant National Sales Manager for Glock Inc. Lefty has been bursting at the seems to talk about the new Gen 5 Glock since he took the Glock Professional Operators Course back at the beginning of August where he put at least 1000 rounds through the Gen 5s. The biggest takeaways from that course where noticeable improvements in grip, trigger-pull/reset and accuracy. With more than 20 new features to the new Gen 5 Glocks, Cory walks us through the "Big 5" features first. Starting at the bottom first we have the flared magwell which gives better and faster reloads and the extended front floor plate for a more positive manual mag extraction. Second: Glock has done away with the finger grooves on the grip. This change gives the shooter a better purchase on the handle and does away with the sometime awkward finger positions the grooves can cause. The third major feature is the ambidextrous slide stop, the benefits being evident for lefties and for off-hand manipulations. The fourth feature is the new coating. Glock is using a nDLC coating instead of the usual gas nitride finish. The fifth major feature is the barrel. The Gen 5's will come with the Glock marksman's barrel. The barrel grooves were moved closer to the feed ramp so the bullet can catch the grooves sooner which makes for more accurate shots. Some other significant features for the Glock Gen 5's are the magazines. A safety-orange follower was added. This is a great feature for when you safety-check your Gen 5 to make sure it is empty you know right off the mag is empty when you see that orange follower. It is also useful when looking through the round count indicators on the back of the magazine to quickly see how many rounds you have remaining. Another optional feature Glock will be offering with the new Gen 5's is big orange Ameriglo tritium night sights. Corey also gets into some backwards/forward compatibility questions with the Gen 4's and Gen 5's. So tune it and don't miss this awesome interview!

This week's Talking Lead "Facts To Fight The Myth" is presented by Adam Kraut. The myth: Only a person with a felony is prohibited from owning a firearm. Not true! Some misdemeanors apply. Listen in as Adam educates us on some of these. Adam is running for the National Rifle Association Board of Directors. Adam tells us why he will make a great addition to the NRA Board. Being in tune with modern trends, education, training & repealing NFA are some of his running points. Help support getting Adam on the ballot by signing his petition. If you are a qualifying member of NRA go to his website adamkraut.com and print off the packet for filling out the petition.

TLP 211 Operate Like A Pro With Glock Professional
TLP 211 Operate Like A Pro With Glock Professional Welcome back to the Talking Lead Show episode 211. This week Lefty travels to Smyrna Georgia for a very special event held by Glock Inc and Glock Professional. The 2017 Glock Summit where a select few media people had the privilege to take the Glock Operator Course while trying out a new product. Joining Lefty this week on the show to talk about the operator course and the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation are Josh Dorsey, VP of North American Operations; Willie Parent, Director Of Training & GSSF; Scotty Banks, Training Manager; Chuck Evans, Training/GSSF; Chris "Gen 1" Edwards, Range Master/GSSF Match Coordinator. The intensive, two-day shooting course was created to offer an affordable form of continuing education in marksmanship and the use of the GLOCK pistol to clients. The course, which is designed by and vetted by military and law enforcement, and combat veterans with real world experience, offers instruction to sharpen the skills of newly trained shooters and seasoned operators alike. After a short break to get some range time with the Glock G-18, rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat, we break into some interviews with a few of the guys that went through the operator course with Lefty. Joining us this segment we have Brian "Duncan" Johnson with Ammoland, Fred Mastison with Force Options & Andre Dall'au with Big 3 East Media; Chris Bartocci with Small Arms Solutions; James & Pete with The Firearm Blog. The guys give their impressions of the course, one big take away and a little lively smack-talk breaks out. Of course we are all still jacked up after shooting the G18 and talk about this rare opportunity to shoot a real G18! We also learn a bit about the media outlets represented during the two-day Glock Summit.

TLP 210 Fiber Optic Security, Drones & Machine Guns
TLP 210 Fiber Optic Security & Machine Guns We are back with another episode of the Talking Lead Podcast show! This week we travel to Ohio for an impressive demonstration of a high-tech fiber optic detection system and an exhilarating day of shooting machine guns. Brian Borkowski with Asymmetric Technologies joins Lefty. A veteran owned company, ASYMMETRIC TECHNOLOGIES LLC is a group of experts in the rapid technology transitioning process. They are a team of seasoned professionals, engineers and technicians, who have consistently excelled at the rapid fielding of new technology. They are agile, deliberate, and understand how to effectively integrate and transition new technology in the current operational environment. As the guys start to get into today's topic the Gunny rolls in with the Talking Lead Jackwagon Train. This time a dumb "smart" gun earns a seat on the TLJW Train along with another useless gun buy-back program in New Jersey. Next Brain and Lefty talk about the latest projects Asymmetrics are working on. Drones are always a fun topic to discuss which AT just so happens to be involved in some interesting drone research. Another project in the works is a high-grade DOPPLER LIDAR system (Light {laser} Detection and Ranging) that builds 3d models which is used for base defense applications. The main project we were there to see was the Fiber Optic Detection System or FODS. A commercially available version using a fiber optic cable with a range of 100 kilometers allows you to have up to 5000 channels which allows detection of different energy signatures (patterns of life) put into the ground. Ideally used for threat detection around a perimeter this systems can differentiate between a person walking their dog vs a person cutting your fence. A car passing by vs a car that stops, gets out and interacts with your fence. The FODS system is so diverse it can be used for geological, military, gas & oil industry, nuclear facilities, and even border security aspects. After business we have a ton of fun with the 2nd Annual Asymmetric Technologies Machine Gun Shoot. Tusker Arms provided an awesome array of unique fully automatic guns which included: Micro & Mini Uzis; M16 Armalite AR-15; AK47 Kalashnikov Automatic Rifle; Thompson SubMachine Gun; MAC-10 Military Armament Corporation Model 10; FN Herstal FN P90; M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR), M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW); M107 Barrett Semi-Auto 50 cal; MG 42 Maschinengewehr 42; M1919 Browning 1919; Czeck UK vz. 59 Universal Machine Gun Model 1959; Heckler & Koch HK23e; and many more. Some of these were a once in a lifetime opportunity to shoot and shoot we did!

With so many complaints with the Beretta 92f aka: M-9, after 2o years it was time to replace it with a more modern, more lethal, more modular handgun. We discuss these questions and more in this episode of Talking Lead!

TLP 192 British Gun Laws Suck
Welcome back to the Talking Lead Show episode: TLP 192 British Gun Laws Suck. Last week one of our Jackwagons was a guy that tried to smuggle 6 suppressor in to the US from the UK. Alan Easton, one of our Leadheads from across the pond and previous guest, wanted to give us some additional insight and a Brit's point of view on this story. While gun laws in the UK are extremely oppressive and absurd compared to our 2nd Amendment rights we have in the US they did get one aspect correct, suppressors. In the UK you can buy suppressors (or as they call them "moderators") over the counter and go on your merry way. Suppressors are legal in the US however the cost and hassle associated with purchasing one makes it difficult. Alan shares some first hand experiences with UK suppressors and goes into some details on the highly restrictive gun laws which put UK citizens' safety and lives in jeopardy. On the heels of the recent Islamic extremist attack in London, Alan and Lefty discuss the latest facts from some recent news stories. Alan fill us in with his inside info and explains how the knife laws in England work against UK citizens in self defense situations. We also learn about Alan's newest hobby Citroën Saxo Racing and how his new hobby helps raise money for UK's youth. The Citroen Saxo was a supermini car produced by the French manufacturer Citroën from 1996 to 2003. It was also sold in Japan as the Citroën Chanson. It shared many engine and body parts with the Peugeot 106

An old viral video showing a firearms instructor making a negligent discharge recently made a mad resurgence, Just goes to show you, Jackwagoneryness has no expiration date! A local Tennessee man finds himself facing a 10 year prison sentence after he tried to smuggle in 6 suppressors from the UK and a bank robbery that ends up with a lullaby. A fresh new concept to still bring you all the latest guns, gear and training...but don't worry you die hard table top review nuts he'll still being doing those too.
