Quite a 36 hours for Benjamin Sesko, who said he wanted Manchester United, then said he wants to think about it, and now, according to reports from the striker's homeland of Slovenia, the financial package put forward by Newcastle has turned his head. Without question, the North East-based reporters will frame this as a victory for the project against money.
Spare a thought for Jadon Sancho, who himself has suffered accusations of being mercenary... now he is willing to take a pay cut to just under a paltry £200,000 a week, Dortmund have reservations about taking him back. Is there nobody there who can offer a background check?
