Gabrielle Mediak, WIVB-TV News Reporter
On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast presented by 26 Shirts, Patrick Moran has a conversation with WIVB-TV news reporter Gabrielle Mediak on a variety of topics spanning her life and career. Gabrielle is born and raised in Western New York and has spent nearly her entire life there. She grew up in Lancaster and ultimately attended Buffalo State College. Once she came to grips with a music career not being feasible she turned her focus on broadcast journalism and has grown into one of the better and more likeable news reporters and personalities in the Buffalo television market. She talks about her experience at college and several interning opportunities and how it helped hone her craft, as did time spent working in both Elmira and Syracuse. She talks about how her opportunity to join WIVB-TV came about in January of 2019 and that her dream of remaining in Western New York to pursue her career became a reality. They also talk about Gabby’s insane work and sleep schedule because of her early morning shift (often waking up at 3:00am), the challenges of working through Covid in the broadcasting profession, her colleagues at Channel 4, why she loves living in Western New York, her favorite wing and pizza spots and the traditional Fun Fact Finale, where we learn several other Gabby fun facts including her first celebrity crush, worst habit, what game show she could dominate and what her signature karaoke song is.
