Dylann Roof is a white supremacist who carried out the Charleston church shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in South Carolina on June 17, 2015. He attended a Bible study at the historically Black church and, after 45 minutes, opened fire with a handgun, killing nine parishioners—including the senior pastor, Clementa Pinckney—and injuring another.
