In another Order Pad episode, Candice and Felicity discuss listed companies which have caught their eye lately. Established in 1969 as the Australian subsidiary of UK merchant bank Hill Samuel, Macquarie diversified its shareholding structure in 1985, assumed its present name and obtained an Australian banking license and first traded on the ASX back in 1996. Felicity talks about Paladin Energy - a company that engages in the development and operation of uranium mines. Its flagship asset is the Langer Heinrich mine in Namibia which was placed in care and maintenance in 2018 due to low uranium prices. Paladin is currently readying Langer Heinrich for a restart which will depend on an improvement in the uranium market. S2 Ep 31Growing your super by shopping | Pascale Helyar-Moray - founder & CEO of Super Rewards
Pascal Helyar-Moray was fed up. She read a study that showed worrying information about the gender pay gap, and the resulting super gap that followed. This study also showed that ‘the fastest growing demographic of homeless people in Australia is the older woman’, and she was infuriated knowing firsthand how government and corporate organisations were doing very little to change this at all. So, she thought…. how do we do something to grow the super balance of homemakers who are taking time out of the workforce? How do we help rectify this imbalance? What do they do that we can monetise? They’re buying things, the groceries, and the pet food and the washing machines, and the nappies… How do we monetise that? So drawing on her e-commerce and entrepreneurial background, Super Rewards was born. Pascal took the concept of affiliate marketing and applied it to the super annexation space instead. Super Rewards is a way to grow your superannuation with your everyday spending. It’s free to join, and there are over 1000 + participating brands offering rewards, so earning more into your balance is easy. Sign up for Super Rewards with the code TMTM2022 now right here. S2 Ep 29Darryl Garber - CCO for ELMO | How the company is leveraging a $2.2 billion market opportunity
Did you know 70% of Australian workers believe that cost of living pressures are negatively impacting their wellbeing? And this is particularly acute amongst Gen Z who are feeling most affected where this number is over 82%? Today Candice and Felicity are in conversation with ELMO’s Chief Commercial Officer Darryl Garber. He talks about how the company recognised the unique opportunity the internet created for automating business processes, and the transparency the analytics from this reporting brings. He shares with them where he thinks the $2.2 billion market opportunity is, what he thinks the secret sauce of successful companies are, and how ELMO is helping these organisations foster culture, innovation, and still adopt a hybrid working policy. S2 Ep 27Ouch! Is your portfolio hurting in 2022? Ideas, themes and stocks that might benefit
In this episode, Candice and Felicity set the scene with a market update, and a look at what they think is ahead of us. At first glance, the mix of slowing growth, high inflation, and central banks in tightening mode offers little support for the second half of the year. But the ladies believe it’s the perfect time to look at the other factors that might come into play. The markets have been sold off now to a point that might mean it’s a great entry point to slowly edge back into equities… They break down a couple of key themes they are looking at, and the stocks they like within these sectors. S2 Ep 26Talking Money To Us | Cameron Duncan - Shaw and Partners
Given the market volatility, rising interest rates and recession backdrop we are facing, Felicity and Candice wanted to speak with an expert in the Australian floating fixed interest market space - also known as hybrids or preference shares. This type of investment is a very attractive asset allocation in the current market conditions, so the ladies wanted to host an episode on what these are, and why investors like them. Cam has had over thirty years experience in financial markets, including a sixteen year stint as Division Director at Macquarie Group. He joined Shaw in July 2015 and got straight into establishing the Shaw SMA Model Portfolios with his partner Steve Anagnos. In this conversation they talk about the outlook for the hybrid market, the risks surrounding preference shares, and ask him to clarify some of the terms mentioned in the space. S2 Ep 14Talking Money To Us | Don Meij - CEO and Managing Director of Domino's Pizza
Felicity and Candice are joined by Don Meij - who’s celebrating 35 years in the pizza business in 2022. Under Don’s leadership, the Company has grown into a thriving international enterprise with more than 3,000 outlets across 10 markets (Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, and Japan to begin with), making it the biggest Domino’s business in the world outside the United States. Seven pizzas are sold every single second. Don discovered his appetite for the pizza business back in 1987 in the small seaside suburb of Redcliffe, Queensland, where he worked part-time for Silvio’s Dial-a-Pizza (Silvio’s) while studying to become a high school teacher. He quickly rose through the management ranks at Silvio’s, which later acquired the Domino’s brand in Australia. In 1996 Don opened his first Domino’s store in Caboolture, Queensland, and the rest is history. Felicity and Candice unpack Don’s story, look at how the industry has changed in the years since, and find out what’s next for Domino’s.
