Brent Axe recaps a wild 95-86 win for Syracuse basketball over Boston College in triple-overtime at the JMA Dome. It certainly wasn't the prettiest game in the world. In fact, one might call it the "best worst game ever," but Syracuse got the win in its first game to go to three overtimes since the famous 6OT game against UConn in the 2009 Big East Tournament. JJ Starling led Syracuse with 28 points. Eddie Lampkin played 49 minutes, giving Syracuse a strong 14 points and 18 rebounds. Brent Axe breaks down Syracuse basketball's 70-61 loss to Stanford. The Orange dug itself way too deep of a hole to escape in trailing Stanford 25-2 in the first-half. While SU did cut the lead down to six points late in the game, it couldn't do enough to overcome Stanford, who never trailed against Syracuse. Axe broke down SU's poor starts and the other stat that keeps sinking games for SU, points off turnovers. SU gave up 19 points off 14 turnovers. Brent Axe recaps Syracuse basketball's 77-73 loss to Pittsburgh at the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday afternoon. SU lost to Pitt despite out-rebounding the Panthers 48-31, with Eddie Lampkin collecting 23 of those boards, and hitting 11 3-pointers. SU's first-half struggles continued at Clemson as the Tigers out-scored SU 28-10 in the last 10 minutes of the 2nd half. Brent Axe reacts to the news that Syracuse Kyle McCord is moving on to the NFL and will no longer pursue a NCAA waiver for another season of college football. McCord made a massive impact in one season at Syracuse, leading the nation with 4,779 passing yards. That set a Syracuse and ACC single-season passing mark. Brent Axe recaps Syracuse basketball's 75-71 loss to Georgetown on Saturday afternoon at the JMA Dome. The listed attendance for Saturday's game was 17,18. While the fans that did go to the game were loud and created a great atmosphere for the 100th meeting of SU-Georgetown, that's a concerning number for SU's main rival in a series that routinely used to get 30,000+ into the Dome. Georgetown ironically used a zone defense, the signature weapon of Jim Boeheim's tenure it had to face for so many years, to flummox the Orange on Saturday afternoon. Eddie Lampkin (18 points) and Jyare Davis (15 points) both had good offensive games inside, but the Orange defense struggled in the paint, get out-scored in that area 48-34. There was one positive from SU's lackluster showing in Knoxville during a 96-70 loss to Tennessee and that was Elijah Moore scoring 24 points and continuing to develop as an exciting freshman on the roster. Oh wait. There was one more thing. Chance Westry played for three minutes! He's a real guy!
