Victoria police have ended a seven-month manhunt for Dezi Freeman, the man accused of killing two officers and wounding a third in August. Freeman was killed during a three-hour standoff on a rural property near Walwa on March 30th. Despite chasing over two thousand leads and facing various challenges, the tip-off led to Freemans arrest. The fallen officers were leading senior constable Neal Thompson and senior constable Vadim De Waart. Freeman, linked to sovereign citizen beliefs, vanished into the bush armed with multiple guns. He was killed during a standoff, and a coroner will confirm his identity. Investigations into those who may have helped him hide are ongoing.
