The City of Greater Geelong has protected the Corio Skate Bowls, Victorias first public skate park, with a heritage overlay. Built in 1980, its now joining historic churches and homes on the protection list. The skate park, inspired by U.S. magazines, was a dream come true for local kids and became a popular spot for skaters, including Tony Hawk. Despite its age, the skate park remains a beloved hangout spot and a key piece of Australian skateboarding history. The community and state government can now submit their views before final approval.
