Show Notes
Flying Lotus, the 42-year-old producer and filmmaker, releases his new EP Big Mama, a hyperactive 13-minute project blending hip hop, jazz, and electronic music. Created in New Zealand after directing a sci-fi thriller, the EP showcases his video game and anime obsessions, featuring cartoonish artwork and a stop-motion video. Tracks like Antelope Onigiri and Horse Nuke draw from eight-bit and sixteen-bit game soundtracks. Lotus plans to score a Metroidvania-style video game, release new music, and mark the 20th anniversary of his debut album. Hell perform at Sydneys Vivid Live festival on May 27th.
