Victoria's bushfire emergency has claimed its first life, with a body found near a vehicle in Longwood. Multiple blazes remain out of control across the state, with 390,000 hectares burnt and hundreds of structures destroyed. CFA volunteers have raised concerns about inadequate equipment and aging fire trucks, some up to 30 years old, whilst the Victorian Premier defends increased funding including an $80 million injection before fire season.
