Show Notes

South-east Queensland faces a severe weather warning with forecasts predicting up to 400 millimetres of rainfall over the weekend, including 200 millimetres possible within six hours. Brisbane City Council has opened sandbagging stations across multiple suburbs and distributed 140,000 sandbags, while the flood operations centre prepares for likely water releases from Wivenhoe, North Pine and Somerset dams. The heavy rainfall is expected to begin on the Gold Coast before moving north to Brisbane, with authorities warning of potentially life-threatening flash flooding.
