Guide Dogs Australia is seeking volunteer puppy raisers to care for 10-week-old Labrador puppies during their first 12 months before formal guide dog training begins. The organisation is launching a fundraiser for National Puppy Day, aiming to raise $50,000 to cover the cost of breeding, raising and training each guide dog from birth to placement. Purpose-bred Labradors are selected based on health and temperament, with dogs that don't qualify as guides being repurposed for therapy work in schools or court support programs.
