Frank Mitchell, a proud First Nations man and business owner, has been named the 2026 Australian of the Year Local Hero for his commitment to social justice. Since 2015, he has created over 70 Aboriginal upskilling positions in the construction industry. Mitchell advocates for decolonising workplaces and building frameworks to support First Nations people in construction, drawing from his own journey as a single father who began with an electrical apprenticeship.
