Desi Freeman, Australia's most wanted fugitive, was shot dead by police after a 216-day manhunt, found 150 kilometres from where he fled after shooting two police officers in August. Authorities discovered evidence at a secluded site including a mobile phone, beer bottles and cooking utensils, suggesting he may have received assistance. Police are now investigating potential connections to the sovereign citizen community and searching for anyone who may have harboured the cop killer during his time on the run.
