Australia has implemented a world-leading social media ban preventing children under 16 from accessing platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. The ban, introduced by Anthony Albanese's government, aims to combat online bullying and protect young people from negative effects of big tech algorithms and social media pressures. The restriction took effect at midnight, marking the first time Australian children have woken up without access to these social media platforms.
