With some countries and companies racing to exploit resources on the ocean floor, deep-sea mining is being hailed as the next frontier. Others, however, are strongly opposed, describing this type of mineral extraction as highly destructive.
So, what does the science say? What do we actually know about the environmental impact? To discuss this, I’m joined by Pedro Ribeiro, Deputy Director of the Norwegian Centre for Deep-Sea Research.
