25 years ago, Gladiator was released and became an iconic film almost immediately. What many people may not realise is that Commodus, the son of the Emperor, who was Russel Crow's nemesis, was actually a real historical figure, whose acts of violence and depravity actually had to be toned down for Hollywood.
