Show Notes

Episode 80: Alison and Timothy discuss the wondrous life of William Woodruff, a hermit from Colebrook River, Connecticut. From newspaper articles, town histories, census records, wills, and various other sources, we piece together William's story - a fatherless child turned town dandy, who walked away from society, grew hollyhocks, gazed at the stars, and kept a vow of silence for much of his life. We also discuss a "wild man" flap which occurred in the area during William's lifetime - and tell the tale of William being mistaken for bigfoot.
