I lived in a castle and I’m not exaggerating. It was a literal castle in the south of Europe. My parents always explained to me that they were descendants of the nobility and that they had inherited a lot of wealth. I was quite comfortable. I had a massive bedroom with many windows and a balcony which had the perfect view of the ocean. It was located in the uppermost part of the castle and if I had been allowed outside I would have seen that it looked exactly like a tower.
Once when I was a little girl my caretaker Hannah was reading the story of Rapunzel to me and she sighed “You poor child, you’re just like her.”
At that age I didn’t understand what she meant at all.
