In the new novel From a Certain Point of View - The Empire Strikes Back, there are tons of amazing stories, and one of them explained something a lot of fans have questioned for years; Why Didn't Yoda Remember R2-D2? After all their Clone Wars and prequels adventures, it would only make sense for him to at least recognize the iconic droid. Here's the answer in canon.
