In the new Dooku Jedi Lost audiobook, we learn A LOT OF THINGS. One of these things, was the very first weapon that Dooku or any youngling got at the Jedi Temple before receiving their deadly lightsabers. This is pretty interesting to know about Dooku, and also what initiates got before they began their Padawan training. As Yoda is the grand Master, it can be deduced that he is the one who approves all weapons in the Temple and to whom they go to.
