In Solo: A Star Wars Story, Tobias Beckett considers taking Han and Chewie off Mimban with them because his crew is "short-handed." But how did they get short-handed in the first place? The movie doesn't explain, but the "Expanded Edition" novelization has the answer - and also reveals whether Beckett saw Han or Chewie as bringing the element he needed to add back into the crew.
